1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products.
2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
I created surveys to gain feedback throughout this project. I did this in the planning and production stages. I also used social media in the use of a software called skype, in which I arranged a call with multiple people to say what I did well and what needed improving and why, also to gain there general ideas and views around my work. I also got a substantial of verbal feedback from my peers and teachers in school to help my work better.
Below is evidence of me emailing people to try and get them to complete my survey and giving clear instructions on how to do so.

Below is a survey made using Survey monkey, this survey was carried out after the making of my production and the two ancillaries. I sent this survey to 10 people, and these were all shown my trailer and ancillaries beforehand.
In the first question I wanted to see if my trailer and ancillaries all link together and whether or not this is easily distinguishable as a brand. using the brand identity idea/360 branding I researched, which can be found on the research tab.

Out of the 10 respondents 9 answered yes, which let me know my trailer and ancillaries relatively link together. 1 out of 10 saying no I think was overall a good response, especially as this survey was created to gain feedback on what and how to improve, in which later on in the survey I ask the reasons for the answers. Overall I learnt that the majority could easily tell that the 3 media products linked together.
All the respondents thought my magazine cover looked authentic, which connotes that the main task of me creating an ancillary that worked, and was effective of advertising my film and still looked like an Empire magazine cover on the most part was successful.
This is was the same for my poster in every agreeing it looked authentic. I learnt here that the main task was done of creating a legitimat poster however there were also flaws that could be made better, especially from feedback from my media teachers, for example make the bill block at the bottom a different colour and adding a slogan to further advertise the film trailer.
This was the same for the trailer as well, but the at the same time I have been told that trailers have a bill block at the end of the trailer, in which I need to edit the trailer to add this in.
I learnt through the audience feedback that people thought my media products were "conventional" and authentic. This is "because of the colours used" and "the layout" representing "professional work" through the use of "the same title and barcode" as in actual film magazines, Therefore I learnt my media products were at a acceptable standard with the main positive being the authenticity of my media products.
Above is more feedback given that is all positive in which enlightened to see the positives more in our work outlining the things that work well in my media products.
This is something I looked into a lot especially in the research stage in which I research the different horror trailers. Therefore through gaining in depth research about the different sub genres I learnt on what to put in and not to put in to be able to be classified as a specific sub genre.

In this question on the survey I got people to rate my survey out of 5. I got a good response in all 3 media products getting over a 4 average. With the only media product getting below a 4 on 3 response being the poster, connoting that improvements need to be made to the poster the most. Which is then followed by the trailer. Overall the media product that needs the least changing/ improving being the magazine front cover, in which I feel in my opinion is the best of the three and I learnt that other people feel this way as well.

I learnt here that the majority though my horror trailer used music that was identified as being within the horror trailer. therefore i learnt that my editing within the trailer of putting the music in was effective as I combined multiple regular sounds together to enhance and blend each sound together. In which combined I wanted to give the feel of originality and also confine to horror norms in terms of sound. Therefore i learnt that this was a successful attempt to the most part as people were happy with it, and with a few adjustments the "kind of" at 20 percent would change to "yes" after some further feedback.
4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Mind Map created by Brandon Hawksley with GoConqr
continued:
I used Pixton in my research work and evaluation. Pixton is a media technology used for creating animated cartoons, I used this as a alternative presentation software.
I also used skype as a way of creating a focus group in my research work, therefore we could interview a number of people at multiple locations at the same time. This was helpful as we found it difficult to get a number of people together for a focus group

Camera:
I used a camera for my planning and construction of the final production. I used a dslr that was great for it's camera features and visual image, however the inbuilt microphone wasn't the best quality making it hard to film outdoors with the wind affecting the mic quality, making the most recorded sound being the sound of wind.

Tripod:
This is a hardware piece of equipment I used to make my work be shown as more professionally as this kept all my shots smooth and without using a handheld camera through out meant that my shots weren't shaky and un smooth.
freesound:

I used freesound for free un-copyrighted music, that is easily downloaded to use in my production. I found a variety of sounds that were useful, especially for horror films, I then added these sounds together to add depth to the sound of my trailer.
Photoshop:
We used photoshop to make our ancillaries, this is a useful technology that allowed us to emphasise the details of the mask and replicate real life posters and magazine covers, therefore making our work look authentic. We cropped around the screenshots that we took from our trailer to then use these in our ancillaries, we did this so we could change the colour of the background to not reveal any of the locations in our trailer.
Final cut pro:
We used Final Cut Pro to edit our final media trailer, we learnt a lot of skills through the watching of tutorials and experimenting with the different functions of the program. e work to a better standard as we could use more technologic. We used this program over IMovie and at first found it difficult to adjust but in the long term, once getting used to it helped work to a better standard as we could use more technologically better software.
Media Weebly:
I used media weebly to analyse previous students work and identify how much work is needed for each grade, and also the standard of work that is needed for each grade. I also used it for inspiration for my work, for example taking ideas from the work that they did well, especially through the use of ancillaries on how to make a successful ancillary.
